TENNIS WIZARDS!

My program for families and their kiddos ages 3 to 8 starts with the idea of connecting tennis with the theatre arts and the fantasy world of wizardry. Yes! Tennis, Theatre Arts, and Wizardy! I have found the best way to teach tennis at this young age is to make it both creative and jubilant. The direct implementation of the creative arts and magic allows youngsters to create the most important factor in long term tennis growth: a positive association with the sport. Let the seriousness and the winning mentality develop after kiddos find the sport exciting, fun, magical, and entertaining.

Overview

Tennis Lessons on the court consist of fun games incorporating all the tools and props of tennis (racquet, net, court boundaries, etc.) combined with theatre props, music, small costumes and scenic additions like bubbles, quirky obstacle courses, charms, as well as story-telling improv games. Lessons also take place indoors either in the gymnasium or theatre rehearsal space, and parks. Students learn the rules of tennis through character acting, singing, dancing, and just having plain old fun while having exercise, and learning magic!

Program Details

The Tennis Wizards program entails one month of weekly half hour lessons, with the option of twice per week. Parents usually sign up as a group and contact me in order to set up the program. Each 1/2-hour lesson consists of both Tennis Instruction, costume days, large object fun, and ‘fun stories’ with Scott that teach tennis and lifeskills, as well as kiddos making up their own tales. The program can be repeated given my availability and work with students. Upon completion, kiddos receive a Gold Star Tennis Wizard wand and a T-Shirt.

Program Cost

The cost for Tennis Wizards is set by arrangement with parents.
