ZEN INSTRUCTION
MY ONE-HOUR IN-OFFICE ZEN SESSIONS ARE DESIGNED TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
-
I offer a unique style of Zen teaching catered to a student’s mode of performance of their preference. Tennis players enjoy Zen’s applicability to their experience on the court in how it centers their thinking, orients their tactical game, calms their emotions, and assists their inner atmosphere. Tennis becomes not only a sport but a spiritual exercise. People from all walks of life also enjoy the practice of Zen.
-
Tennis practice and mental toughness are inseparable. As a perfect companion to tennis training, I work with students on strengthening their mental toughness in order to exceed their limitations on the court and to encounter their obstacles to successful tennis play, both against opponents, and within.
-
Zen sessions with students incorporate both the teisho, or topical discussions, as well as Zazen sessions with me in order to break out of the world of illusion and develop strategies for illumination in a focused one on one experience. I often use Koans to assist with this process.
-
As a highly fascinating option for students, my meditation sessions also may implement visualization exercises to spur the imagination in order to release blockages and strengthen the bond between body and imagination, spirit and emotion, and mind with soul.
-
I offer performance coaching to my Zen students. This means that, as we work together in meditative practice, and thoughtful discussions, I develop avenues to enhance performance both on the court and off. I often enlist measurable goal-setting activities as I harness the power of Zen to attain peak experiences.
-
In Zen lessona, my students often learn that their ‘lesson’ is as much about their experiences of life, as it is about meditation. I offer professional quality, motivating life coaching that meets the needs of every student where they are at.

“If you have the chance to work with Scott, do it!! He’s one of those rare instructors who is extremely knowledgeable about the techniques of tennis, is a skilled tennis player in his own right, AND knows how to leverage his experience as a teacher to instruct in a way that’s engaging, retainable, and fun! His positive and encouraging nature is also super motivating no matter what your age. We feel incredibly lucky to have been referred to Scott and recommend him hands down!!”
