PROPOSAL OVERVIEW

The American Stability Compact is a national initiative designed to secure the economic future of the 6% of Americans living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and to stabilize the families, communities, and institutions that support them.

It unites federal agencies, private industry, major financial institutions, and state partners behind a single goal:

To ensure that no American facing the highest mental-health burdens is ever pushed into economic collapse.

The Compact is built on the idea that strengthening the lives of the most vulnerable strengthens the nation as a whole — economically, socially, and civically.
